Helping Hand-5

Exodus 17:11 “It turned out that whenever Moses raised his hands, Israel was winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, Amalek was winning.”
Exodus 17:12 “But Moses’ hands got tired. So they got a stone and set it under him. He sat on it and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on each side. So his hands remained steady until the sun went down.”
Exodus 17:13 “Joshua defeated Amalek and its army in battle.” (MSG)
…From yesterday…
Beloved, the world is full of people who are on the ground and going nowhere, but who will want to pull you down to their level. They are men who have fallen and want you to join them on the ground! They are men and women who hate to see you at rest.
They hate to see you relaxed and at rest in the Lord. These folks saw that Israel was at rest and waged war against them. They decided to take away their peace. They are still here with us; that is why we cannot afford to rest on our oars.
When they came up against them, Moses didn’t fret; he simply designed a war strategy and brought in his armed forces. The great Moses didn’t try to face them alone. He knew the place of men and their gifts. He was not a one-man-army!
Exodus 17:9 “Moses ordered Joshua: “Select some men for us and go out and fight Amalek. Tomorrow I will take my stand on top of the hill holding God’s staff.””
Exodus 17:10 “Joshua did what Moses ordered in order to fight Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of the hill.”
Look at that war strategy. Moses mobilised his armed forces; he told Joshua to handle the offensive from the ground while himself, Aaron and Hur took the position of the “air force”. They went up with the rod of God to the top of the hill.
The rod represents the word of God, while his going up to the top of the hill is synonymous to prayer. I love that strategy.
To be continued…
