Helping Hand-1

Exodus 17:11 “It turned out that whenever Moses raised his hands, Israel was winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, Amalek was winning.”
Exodus 17:12 “But Moses’ hands got tired. So they got a stone and set it under him. He sat on it and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on each side. So his hands remained steady until the sun went down.”
Exodus 17:13 “Joshua defeated Amalek and its army in battle.” (MSG)
Moses was a powerful prophet, a deliverer, a freedom fighter per excellence, a judge and lawgiver. He was also a great shepherd or pastor among other things. God used him mightily to wrought several victories for his people.
However, Moses was not a one-man-army! I don’t know how men coined out that phrase but one thing I know is that it was not from God. God never designed a man that was meant to succeed alone! Hear Him:
Genesis 2:18 “And the LORD God said, [It is] not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.”
God said it is not good for a man to be alone, he needed an helper. He said that about the very first man and He has not changed His mind! As long as you’re a man, you will always need the help of others to succeed in your God given assignment.
That is why an army is a large, highly organized military force, even though concerned mainly with ground operations still needs the support of the navy (water), air force, marines and, sometimes, coastguard or border guard.
So, a man who calls himself a one-man-army is doomed to fail from the very beginning. I want to believe that phrase was coined out from the story of that great judge called Samson whose career ended abruptly and prematurely. He was indeed a great fighting machine, endowed with so much power and force but who violated the law of God in Genesis 2:18.
He was a great warrior no doubt but lack of proper help led to his doom.
To be continued…
