This Book of the Law-15
Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
Friend, study your bible the way you study for exams! No wonder Paul admonished his son Timothy thus:
2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
You cannot interpret the word unless you study it!
While studying, God seemed to be telling Joshua to move to the next stage, which is imagination. Joshua was to add imagination to the study. To imagine means to create mental pictures, to form a mental image of something; to envision or create something in one’s mind.
One of my mentors in ministry said, “When you’re meditating on the word of God, ask the Holy Spirit to give you “the video tape” of the event that led to the statement!” That was a remarkable statement.
2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
When you study the word, images are formed in your mind and once you retain those pictures in your heart you will automatically become it.
You become what you behold! Even God attest to this fact, hear Him:
Genesis 11:6 “And the LORD said, Behold, the people [is] one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have IMAGINED to do.”
Let’s do a little “practical”.
Pick up your bible, open it to 1 Samuel 17, read about David and Goliath. Imagine David as a young little lad speaking to the giant Goliath.
Paint this picture in your mind…
