The Audit-7

Luke 16:1 “And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.”
Luke 16:2 “And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.”
Luke 16:2 “So he called him in and said, ‘What’s this I hear about you? You’re fired. And I want a complete audit of your books.'”(MSG)
…From yesterday…
Paul rounded up this way: “Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all” (1 Timothy 4:15).
Paul told Timothy, “When you give yourself to this auditing process, measuring yourself against these standards, your profiting or success will become visible to all” (My paraphrased translation).
Finally, from our focal scripture, we need to audit how we spent the money that passed through our hands and also how we managed resources that God brought our way in this outgoing year.
The bible says we are stewards. A steward is a person who manages the property or affairs for another entity. In this case, we are stewards managing affairs and resources for God on earth.
The major issue here is that most of us are like this steward the bible refers to in our focal scripture.
Luke 16:1 “And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.”
Luke 16:2 “…give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.”
This particular steward committed the sin of wastage! He mismanaged the Master’s goods. The Master summoned him and asked him to do a self audit, even though the all knowing Master knew what he had done.
Beloved, how have you handled the Master’s business in 2015?
To be continued…
