The Audit-1

Luke 16:1 “And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.”
Luke 16:2 “And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.”
Luke 16:2 “So he called him in and said, ‘What’s this I hear about you? You’re fired. And I want a complete audit of your books.'”(MSG)
Dictionary defines the word audit as “An independent review and examination of records and activities to assess the adequacy of system controls, to ensure compliance with established policies and operational procedures, and to recommend necessary changes in controls, policies, or procedures”
It is also an official inspection of an individual’s or organization’s accounts, typically by an independent body, it can also be done internally by an internal auditor. An auditor is a person saddled with the responsibility of carrying out an audit.
A banker friend once told me that the most “hated” set of people in the banking industry are the auditors. Nobody want them around and they are often victims of attacks, abuse and in extreme cases have hired guns or assassins on their tail!
I discovered that assertion is not limited to the banking industry alone, it happens in the business world and government establishments as well.
I also discovered on a personal note that nobody want to be audited. In order words people don’t want to be accountable. Man generally wants to live his life the way he wants.
Nobody wants to be questioned or queried. Typical men want to behave the way he likes, sleep and wake up when he likes, eat and drink what he likes, whether good or bad for his health. Go where he likes and when he feels like, pray when he remembers, dust his bible on Sunday and opens it only in church.
To be continued…
