Jonah 1:2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.”
Jonah 1:3 “But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD…”
…From yesterday…
God knows who they are and where they are; he can always order them to you, even if they don’t want to! All you need do is ask!
Jonah 1:4 “But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.”
God sure knows how to “arrest and bring” them.
As I was studying this story however, the Holy Spirit said this prayer is in two folds, and you must know how to pray the two!
The first angle to this prayer is for yourself. You are also designed as a solution provider to someone and probably holding on to what belongs to the person. You must learn to release it first and fast. The issue is you might have been acting like a “Jonah” yourself.
You need to ask the Lord to heal you from every Jonah syndrome and make you a blessing to others.
What will happen if you play Jonah? Perhaps those issues in your life had been due to your holding on to what belonged to another, hear this:
Jonah 1:5 “The sailors were terrified. They called out in desperation to their gods. They threw everything they were carrying overboard to lighten the ship…”(MSG)
It is dangerous to be a “Jonah or habour him”. What are those things in your hands that you need to release to another? Let the Holy Spirit help you to fish them out.
If you are a Jonah or holding on to one in your ship, you will be terrified and keep losing your own stuff. That is the main danger in being a Jonah.
Now, the second part is easier. Simply ask God to bring them! If it will take Him to use a fish, He sure will! God has several ways and techniques, all you need to do is ask for them to show! Selah!
