Philippians “1:15 It’s true that some here preach Christ because with me out of the way, they think they’ll step right into the spotlight. But the others do it with the best heart in the world.”
Philippians 1:16 “One group is motivated by pure love, knowing that I am here defending the Message, wanting to help.”
Finally on this piece, let’s consider another motive that will always produce a right action.
John 19:28 “After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.”
Let your motive always be the word of God. In John 19:28, before Jesus complained about being thirsty and in need of water, his motive was the word of God! He knew the scripture must be fulfilled even in his intake of fluid!
Before you eat and drink, what drives you?
Do you know you can drink and eat what harms your body and displease God? The bible says:
1 Corinthians 3:16 “You realize, don’t you, that you are the temple of God, and God himself is present in you?”
1 Corinthians 3:17 “No one will get by with vandalizing God’s temple, you can be sure of that. God’s temple is sacred–and you, remember, [are] the temple.”(MSG)
Don’t take anything injurious to your body, alcohol, cigarette, etc. Whatever will harm or vandalize “His temple”, which is your body, should never be taken! Have the right motive for eating and drinking.
Finally, remember and never forget this:
1 Corinthians 3:20 “The Master sees through the smoke screens of the know-it-alls.”(MSG)
1 Corinthians 3:20 “And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.”
God doesn’t just know and judges our actions; He knows and judges your intentions! You may hide your intentions from man, but never from God. Hidden things lay bare before Him!
Beloved, before you take that step or make that decision, ask yourself this golden question,: “What would Jesus do?”
