Philippians “1:15 It’s true that some here preach Christ because with me out of the way, they think they’ll step right into the spotlight. But the others do it with the best heart in the world.”
Philippians 1:16 “One group is motivated by pure love, knowing that I am here defending the Message, wanting to help.”
Philippians 1:17 “The others, now that I’m out of the picture, are merely greedy, hoping to get something out of it for themselves. Their motives are bad. They see me as their competition, and so the worse it goes for me, the better–they think–for them.” (MSG)

1 Corinthians 13:5 “Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,” (MSG)
If I may ask, “Why are you keeping that particular diary?” I mean the one with a database of everyone that has ever offended you. Keeping such records is a wrong motivation for keeping a diary! It looks harmless but the bible says, love does no such thing!
God came down to die a horrible death for you and I but have you ever wondered what His motivation was?
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
His motivation was pure love. Love made the Creator humble Himself and die in the hands of His creatures! What will you do for others when you are motivated by love?
The Holy Spirit, which is the Spirit of God, should be another motivating factor and reason for our actions. Hear this:
Galatians 5:16 “My counsel is this: Live freely, animated and MOTIVATED BY GOD’S SPIRIT. Then you won’t feed the compulsions of selfishness.” (MSG)
Sometimes in the cause of counselling people, I have had cause to ask them this question, “Why did you do it?”
