Proverbs 13:20 “He that walketh with wise [men] shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
Proverbs 13:20 “Walk with wise people and become wise; befriend fools and get in trouble.” (CEB)
King Solomon must have spent a lot of time studying fools. I guess that was one of the reasons he was very wise. He knew fools and so knew how to avoid them and keep company with only wise folks.
Here is another thing he said about fools. He said fools have very short and fiery temper. Hear this:
Ecclesiastes 7:9 “Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.”
Ecclesiastes 7:9 “Only fools get angry quickly and hold a grudge.”(CEV)
Proverbs 12:16 “Fools have short fuses and explode all too quickly; the prudent quietly shrug off insults.” (MSG)
Here is another one:
Proverbs 26:6 “He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, [and] drinketh damage.”
Proverbs 26:6 “You’re only asking for trouble when you send a message by a fool.”(MSG)
A fool is very unreliable. When you ask them to deliver or do something for you, they mess it up! I am sure you’ve met such folks.
Finally, for this piece, let’s look at another characteristic of a fool:
Proverbs 18:6 “A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.”
Proverbs 18:7 “A fool’s mouth [is] his destruction, and his lips [are] the snare of his soul.”
The mouth of a fool attracts cane or beating. It brings ruin and destruction. Once you see a man that has no control of his tongue, he sure is a fool!
I believe by exposing these attributes of fools in this piece you now know who you should keep close to yourself and who you should not.
It’s time to review your list of intimate relationships and get ahead in life. Quit getting in trouble; it’s time to walk with the wise!
