Watch Your Association-2

Proverbs 13:20 “He that walketh with wise [men] shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
Proverbs 13:20 “Walk with wise people and become wise; befriend fools and get in trouble.” (CEB)
Proverbs 13:20 “Become wise by walking with the wise; hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.” (MSG)
I once heard a counsel from a mentor of mine, Rev. Sam Adeyemi. He said the quality of your life will depend on the top seven people you have closest to you. He said the people you listen to and associate with the most will determine the outcome of your life.
That word struck me like thunder! I therefore went to work on my list. I wrote down the list of the top seven people I listen to and associate with, and indeed, I understood what the man of God was talking about.
So what do I do? I simply changed two people from that list and I was opened up to a whole new world of possibilities and opportunities. I started hearing something different. I started seeing success the way God sees it and seeing possibilities where all I saw before were impossibilities.
I started learning new things. I saw my faith rise and my destiny opening up. Indeed our associations can limit us! If your dream is to fly an airplane and your companions are bicycle and car drivers, you will remain on the ground for a very long time!
If flying an airplane is your dream, I suggest you start looking for a pilot to befriend! The same principle applies to your destiny and journey in life.
Why don’t you look for people that are going the same way with you to befriend? Or perhaps people that have been there before!
King Solomon says that to associate with fools is both unwise and unpleasant because they will get you in trouble, and your life will fall in pieces!
To a large extent, our associations are contagious.
To be continued…
