Who is Your Driver? – 2

Galatians 5:16 “[This] I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
Galatians 5:17 “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”
…From yesterday…
Our flesh is our body, which is the component that makes us legal beings on earth. The issue is, for many people after giving their lives to Christ, the spirit comes alive to drive the vehicles of their lives, but then the flesh also jumps into the driver’s seat and a serious struggle ensues.
The flesh and the spirit both try to take the driver’s seat. This was what Apostle Paul illustrated in our focal scripture.
Galatians 5:17 “For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.”
Galatians 5:17 “The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other…” (NLT)
They are two opposite forces fighting to gain control of you. Whoever wins determines how you eventually behave. Paul however didn’t keep us in the dark; he gave us clue as to how we know who is driving at any given point in time.
If the flesh is in control these are the behaviours we see a man exhibit.
Galatians 5:19 “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are [these]; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,”
Galatians 5:20 “Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,”
Galatians 5:21 “Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before…”
