Life Lessons from Driving-16
Mark 4:35 “And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.”
…From yesterday…
1 Chronicles 10:13 “So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, [even] against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking [counsel] of [one that had] a familiar spirit, to enquire [of it];”
I love Jonathan, and had he lived, he would have been a precious addition to the team of David, but he made a terrible mistake; he followed Saul his father who was driving dangerously.
Saul was driving without caution, doing dangerous overtaking, throwing caution to the wind; yet Jonathan kept following, letting down his own guard.
There are times we do this while driving. A car suddenly overtakes you, you follow suit. You follow him and overtake the same way he overtook you without thinking. We forget our own journey and start pursuing the other man’s own.
Beloved, you must remember you are travelling to different destinations and with different times of arrival. You must know when to follow, when to follow with caution and when not to even follow at all.
You must learn to rely on the Holy Spirit absolutely. The Holy Spirit in us is for direction and caution as well; we must cooperate with Him always.
If only Jonathan had listened to Him and taken precaution, he would have avoided the ghastly motor accident that truncated his life and destiny.
Another note of caution I want to sound out to you is that you must take heed to yourself, especially how you react to some of these crazy drivers.
We tend to respond to them when for example they “cut-in on us”, abuse us and act funny. I have seen people drive rough, almost hitting me and rather than apologise rain insults on me. I am sure you understand what I am talking about.
I have since discovered that such people will always be on our roads.
To be continued…
Love you BiG
