The Home Stretch-2
1 Kings 1:1 “Now king David was old [and] stricken in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he gat no heat.”
1 Kings 1:5 “Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, I will be king: and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.”
…From yesterday…
They concluded that his time was up and they immediately swung into action to execute their evil plan. The conspiracy theory worked out. Adonijah recruited some of David’s men who willingly obliged him, believing their champion was dead, and just awaiting burial. I’ll suggest you pick up your bible and read the entire chapter of 1Kings 1:1-53.
But then what has this got to do with you? Perhaps you have given up on yourself, resigning yourself to fate, believing that things cannot change for the better. You might have even given up on your dreams and aspirations.
Your once vibrant self might have even been covered up, just the way they did King David. You’re probably even thinking this year has gone again. Perhaps you have concluded that nine months out of a possible twelve have gone by without you achieving anything. Maybe you have even started counting your losses for the year.
Which ever category you find yourself, I am glad to let you know that there is more!
You have just entered the home stretch of the year 2015!! We are about entering the last quarter; this is the last curve to the finish line of this great year, the very last part of the distance.
The question now is: how do I handle the home stretch? Let’s take a look at how King David handled his. Hear this:
1 Kings 1:24 “And Nathan said, My lord, O king, hast thou said, Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?”
To be continued…
