The Principle of Change-3

1Samuel 10:6 “And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.”
1Samuel 10:10 “And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.”
1Samuel 10:13 “And when he had made an end of prophesying he came to the high place.”
…From yesterday…
Man simply hates change. Let me share a letter I read with you. I still find it difficult to believe the content and couldn’t help laughing and wondering. Read it below:
Name of President: President Jackson
Date: January 31, 1829:
As you may know, Mr. President, ‘railroad’ carriages are pulled at the enormous speed of 24Kmph/15 miles per hour by ‘engines’ which, in addition to;
1. Endangering life and limb of passengers,
2. Roar and snort their way through the countryside,
3. Setting fire to crops,
4. Scaring the livestock,
5. Frightening women and children.
The Almighty God certainly never intended that people should travel at such breakneck speed.
We demand that the project be discontinued and out rightly stopped.
Signed: Martin Van Buren Governor of New York
The above letter was written to the then American president when the railroads were first introduced to the U.S., some folks feared that they’d be the downfall of the nation! They therefore out of concern for the American nation wrote the “concerned” letter.
Beloved, apart from the advantages of travelling by train which are enormous, traveling 15 miles per hour is not even a speed any sane man in this generation will want to travel at. Nowadays, railways can travel at neck breaking speeds in excess of 300 miles per hour and efforts are being made to increase it.
To be continued…
