Be different-1

Mark 6:3 “Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.”
One reason many people in the days of Christ hated him so much was the simple fact that he chose to be different. He made up his mind to be different from them all.
He was fully aware of his potentials and decided to be the best he could possibly be. He chose to live the life God expected of him without apology to anyone.
In our focal scripture, we see his countrymen getting mad at him. They made a very interesting statement that caught my attention. They said, “Is not this the carpenter…”
Is not this the guy that made me a bed? Is not this the carpenter I employed to roof my house? Is not this the guy that made the upholstery in my sitting room? (My translation…Laughing). But can you imagine what was going on in their minds?
That was the problem they had with Christ! How can a carpenter suddenly wake up one day and claim to be the Son of God! Somebody that we know to be “flesh and blood”. We know him to his father’s house; look at his brothers and sisters. They are here with us.
The question in their minds was, Why did he choose to be different from us? Who does he think he is? This is the issue.
Friend, those folks are still very much around. They are ok if you’re like them. Doing the same things, going to the same places, eating the same food, living an average life like them. They didn’t have problems with James, Joses, Juda, and Simon, Jesus’ brothers, neither did they have with his sisters.
They only have issues with Jesus who decided to abandon the family tradition of carpentry and hanging around with ordinary people. Jesus didn’t have issues with them till the day he stood up to embrace his divine destiny. Hear this:
