Genesis 27:5 “Rebekah was eavesdropping as Isaac spoke to his son Esau. As soon as Esau had gone off to the country to hunt game for his father,”
Genesis 27:6 “Rebekah spoke to her son Jacob. “I just overheard your father talking with your brother, Esau. He said,”
Genesis 27:7 ‘Bring me some game and fix me a hearty meal so that I can eat and bless you with GOD’s blessing before I die.’
Genesis 27:8 “Now, my son, listen to me. Do what I tell you.”

One very potent “Rebecca” in your life is your spiritual father and mentors. Recently I had opportunity to talk to a mentor of mine and he gave me some information.
A statement he made while talking to me baffled me. He said,” What I am sharing with you took me 42 years to learn and master”, that was “Wow” to me. I collected that piece of information under 3 hours! That’s a Rebecca and Jacob scenario!
Do you know for how many years Rebecca had been cooking for Isaac? She had mastered the art and known how to “stir up” the man’s appetite to the level of provoking his blessings.
I want to believe one of the reasons Isaac gave the “wrong man” the blessing was the aroma of the food or venison! I’m sure you have food that does that to you.
All it takes was for Isaac to ask Jacob to go call his brother before releasing the blessing, but the aroma of the food was too strong to resist. Isaac rushed the food and gave out the blessing without doing due diligence.
The lesson is this, “your Rebeccas” have learnt by experience what they are giving you now. Beloved, embrace it by grace! You will not live long enough to make all the mistakes, correct them and learn from them.
A wise man knows how to listen and learn from the failures and successes of others!
