I still want Rachel-6
Genesis 29:26 “And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.”
Genesis 29:27 “Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.”
Genesis 29:28 “And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.”
…From yesterday…
Beloved, the best place to get fired up and receive inspiration is from the word. Pick up your bible and listen to God again. Revisit His promises towards you. Know that they cannot fail.
Remind God of the dream He showed you and let Him know you’ve not changed your mind in achieving them because He won’t change His. Become like David. Hear this:
1 Samuel 30:6 “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”
1 Samuel 30:6 “David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the Lord his God.” (NLT)
Disappointments can be very demoralising, no doubt. It can make the most courageous men lose heart. That was the situation here. David and his men got a “Leah” they never bargained for. They were down and discouraged. They even got bitter. If not for God and David’s ability to handle disappointments, they may never have recovered.
BUT, I like it when the bible uses this wonderful conjunction, BUT, David did something Jacob did; he did what Joshua did. He encouraged himself in the LORD his God. Another translation says But David found strength in the Lord his God.
To be continued…
