I still want Rachel-3

Genesis 29:26 “And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.”
Genesis 29:27 “Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.”
Genesis 29:28 “And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.”
…From yesterday…
He married Leah in the evening, connoting “shady deals” as explained earlier, he then went in to her immediately. After going in to her, Laban then gave Zilpah to Leah! Not before he went in to her.
Let’s see how he married Rachel:
Genesis 29:28 “And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.”
Genesis 29:29 “And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.”
Genesis 29:30 “And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.”
It is obvious that Jacob had learnt a great deal. One, the bible never recorded that he married her in the evening! You can trust the Holy Spirit to record that if he did. Jacob has learnt to do day time deals! Plain and straight forward deals! This guy is learning!
The second thing we see from the story is that unlike with Leah, he didn’t go in to Rachel immediately! He allowed Laban to give Bilhah to Rachel before finally going in to her!
We can see a man that has learnt patience and process! He has learnt to check well to be sure what he was actually getting this time around was Rachel.
He was careful and patient. He knew Laban might be up to some other tricks. Laban might come up with another “Leah” from somewhere. So he took his time to check well before going in unto her!
Friend, what has that last disappointment taught you? Has it changed you?
To be continued…
Love you BiG
