Reality Check-3

Luke 12:16 “Then he told them this story: “The farm of a certain rich man produced a terrific crop.”
Luke 12:17 “He talked to himself: ‘What can I do? My barn isn’t big enough for this harvest.'”
Luke 12:18 “Then he said, ‘Here’s what I’ll do: I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll gather in all my grain and goods,”
Luke 12:19 “and I’ll say to myself, Self, you’ve done well! You’ve got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life!'”
Luke 12:20 “Just then God showed up and said, ‘Fool! Tonight you die. And your barnful of goods–who gets it?’ (MSG)
…From yesterday…
He battled for several hours but the wind was contrary. Water entered the ship and it began to sink.
The ship gave way, got smashed and he barely made it back to shore alive, hanging unto one of the debris of his damaged ship.
On arriving at the shore, he met the villagers and the old man. The old man asked him some questions:
1. “Where did the wind that normally aid your boat come from?”
2. “What about the fishes. Who put them in the sea?”
3. “Who owns the sea?”
The fisherman broke down in tears, as he realised his foolishness!
Like that fisherman, many times in life, we seem to forget all about the Invisible, Superior, and Omniscient God who has been working behind the scene.
Like the foolish farmer in our focal scripture, we allow self to take over and make plans without consulting God. Even if you’re smart, intelligent with all the skill and teachnical know-how, do you own your breath?
There is a thin line between success and arrogance. Friend, when people salute the great work you’ve done or your achievement, quickly point them to Jesus, the man behind the scene and then find a quiet place to bow down and return the honour to the real owner!
To be continued…
