Luke 12:16 “Then he told them this story: “The farm of a certain rich man produced a terrific crop.”
Luke 12:17 “He talked to himself: ‘What can I do? My barn isn’t big enough for this harvest.'”
Luke 12:18 “Then he said, ‘Here’s what I’ll do: I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll gather in all my grain and goods,”
Luke 12:19 “and I’ll say to myself, Self, you’ve done well! You’ve got it made and can now retire. Take it easy and have the time of your life!'”
Luke 12:20 “Just then God showed up and said, ‘Fool! Tonight you die. And your barnful of goods–who gets it?’ (MSG)
In life things can become so easy that we are easily deceived into thinking we have achieved so much by our strength, experience, training, education and expertise.
Most times success can become an invisible trap and limiting factor on our journey in life. A wise man once said, “Your last success is usually the enemy of your next success!”
The devil knows that all it takes to stop you is by simply deceiving you into ascribing God’s glory to yourself. He knows one thing God detests is pride. He knows that:
James 4:6 “…God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.” (KJV)
James 4:6 “…God goes against the willful proud; God gives grace to the willing humble.” (MSG)
1 Peter 5:5 “…be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
The devil is cunning, so all he does is to simply “hail” you, your efforts and strivings so that the entire focus is on you. Before you know it you let it get into your head; pride sets in and then he sets God against you!
Very simple formula for failure! That’s why you must be on our guard always against the “cunning craftiness” (Eph. 4:14) of the devil.
Let me share a story with you:
There was once a very successful fisherman. For close to a year he would sail to sea, make a good catch and easily sail back to shore.
