Luke 15:29 “The son said, ‘Look how many years I’ve stayed here serving you, never giving you one moment of grief, but have you ever thrown a party for me and my friends?” (MSG)
Have you ever felt like that? Thinking you have given all and expected a well done but none came. As if to rub salt to injury, you were abused and told your best was not good enough.
In some cases, the person that wasn’t there when you did the work was recognised ahead of you, probably he was even showered with all the encomium while you watch in utter disbelieve and bewilderment.
That was how this man felt even though he got it wrong at that instant. But Beloved, this is true to life.
There will always be reasons for you to feel that way. To some people, your best will never be good enough. They will even want to make you feel sad and bad. Others will throw the good you’ve done back at your face without minding how you feel. Such is the nature of man especially at this end time. Hear this:
2 Timothy 3:1 “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”
2 Timothy 3:2 “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,”
Friend, expect men to be unthankful, self-centered and covetous. The Bible already warns us against such, so you should be prepared. Does that mean you should stop doing good? Not at all, God forbid! You should do more!
Let me share something with you. It’s about King David, I just can’t get enough of him! Hear this:
1 Samuel 23:1 “Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.”
1 Samuel 23:2 “Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.”
To be continued…
