The other side of dreams-8
Genesis 37:5 “And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told [it] his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.”
Genesis 37:11 “And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.”
Many people are in one mess or the other today because they took the devil’s “seemingly appealing option”. We have seen people go into wrong partnership and ungodly associations to finance a God given dream just because of “famine”. It didn’t just start, Abram fell into the same trap.
But, the question is how do we handle “famine” or unavailability of resources for the vision?
Isaac took over from Abraham to pursue his own God given dream but then famine came as it did during the time of his father. Hear this:
Genesis 26:1 “And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.”
Genesis 26:2 “And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:”
Genesis 26:6 “And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:”
The devil knew Isaac will go further than his father so he tried to stop him as well using the same old trick, (he still uses it today). But, this time around, God quickly stepped in, showing us how to handle famine.
The first step is to stay calm, secondly never consider going down to Egypt. Banish the thought of Egypt, let the devil know you’ll never accept his alternative. Never lose sight of the One that gave you the dream.
Once that is settled, ask God for the way out and wait for His instructions. Don’t make a move till He speaks! He will always show you a way out once you ask, because “he that ask receives” (Matthew 7:8).
Isaac was instructed by God and he obeyed. Then, the difficult part that most people dread…
