Judging quickly-1

2Samuel 12:5 “And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:”
2Samuel 12:6 “And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity”
2Samuel 12:7 “And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;”
This beautiful story was sent to me by a sister of mine who is also a Lift reader and I believe it drives home the message of today’s Lift. Permit me to share it with you:
“A lovely little girl was holding two apples with both hands. Her mum came in and softly asked her little daughter with a smile: “my sweetie, could you give your mum one of your two apples?”
The girl looked up at her mum for some seconds, then she suddenly took a quick bite on one apple, and then quickly on the other. The mum felt the smile on her face freeze! She tried hard not to reveal her disappointment.
Then the little girl handed one of her bitten apples to her mum, and said: “mummy, here you are. This is the sweeter one! That statement and act literally melted her mum’s heart.”
I’m sure if you were her mum, you might have landed the innocent girl a good slap immediately she took a bite on the second apple before she has the chance to explain herself. You’ll then go ahead and give her a lecture or two on generosity! Well, thank God for patient mothers and for people who doesn’t pass judgment too quickly.
Passing judgment too quickly is a serious issue and most of us are guilty of the offence. We don’t give people the benefit of doubt. Some people are even so gullible that they believe rumors about fellow brethren without bothering to confirm what they heard, how sad.
