Yes you can-4
2 Samuel 5:6 “David and his men immediately set out for Jerusalem to take on the Jebusites, who lived in that country. But they said, “You might as well go home! Even the blind and the lame could keep you out. You can’t get in here!” They had convinced themselves that David couldn’t break through.”
2 Samuel 5:7 “But David went right ahead and captured the fortress of Zion, known ever since as the City of David.”(MSG)
Having settled the voice war, the next most important factor is courage!
David was told that if he attacks the city, the soldiers wouldn’t even have to fight him, the city is so well defended and it’s inhabitants so well trained that “even the blind and the lame can keep him out”.
It was not his town, the city had not been conquered for 500 years, the blind and lame are very skillful in the art of war etc. The impossible have a way of melting our hearts.
We can become highly discouraged and faint hearted when we hear certain things about what we want to do. The devil goes out on an all offensive assult against our courage. I am sure people would have told David that some of the greatest warriors in his generation were killed by blind soldiers, how much more, confronting the able bodied soldiers of the land.
Friend, the devil’s strategy has not changed. His intention and first attack strategy is to send fear into you, once he gets you scared, he’ll keep you from starting!
David was threatened and scared but guess what? He went ahead despite his fears! I love that man.
Courage doesn’t mean you’re not scared, I love the way Mark Twain put it, “Courage is not the absence of fear. It is acting in spite of it.” Courage is the ability to do things which one finds frightening!!
We are often deceived most times when a man achieves a rear feat, we look at him as bold and fearless. The truth however is this, he took a step and carried on despite his fears!
To be continued…
