Training for reigning-7
Psalms 144:1 “Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:” (KJV)
…From yesterday…
1 Samuel 17:36 “Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.”
David’s gist (testimony) sounded like a scene from a Hollywood Superman movie, but it’s not. It’s the submission of a man who knew the place of training. Running from the lion and bear was not an option for the young man. He knew they were part of the training process.
Friend, guess what? Goliath will always show up! But, if you’ve been running from the lion and the bear it will show!
The day Goliath showed up, we knew the people who were “not jumping the wheat farm”, people like David’s elder brothers led by Eliab, King Saul and the other soldiers. The wind blew as it always will but their houses could not withstand the storm, they didn’t dig deep!
Beloved, if you must reign, you must be ready to withstand the rigors of training.
Jesus had to go through training for forty days and forty nights, it was rigorous but he endured, and guess what, “Goliath” showed up afterwards in the form of the devil but the trained soldier, Jesus Christ, worn the duel.
Friend, killing the lion and the bear are dress rehearsals for the Goliath that is ahead of you! If you run from the lion and the bear, when Golaith eventually show up, you will flee!
Training builds up our inner strength. It prepares us for what we should respect in real life situations. An athlete doesn’t just show up on the day of competition, the ones that do that fail.
The athletes that win competitions literally lives on the field, training and developing their muscles for the competition proper.
I read of a country preparing 16 years in advance for an Olympics competition!
To be continued…
