Training for reigning-5
Psalms 144:1 “Blessed [be] the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, [and] my fingers to fight:” (KJV)
Psalms 144:1 “Blessed be GOD, my mountain, who trains me to fight fair and well.” (MSG)
Luke 6:48 “He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.”
The training period is the time of digging deep. Digging deep is hard work, it might even seem like a total waste of precious time.
While the man that was digging deep was struggling with the sand and hard rock, the other man had almost finished building his own house, but in a matter of time, the two houses were both subjected to the same test and we know the result.
The result was disastrous, that is why God will not send out an untrained hand. Ask a giant tree, what it went through before growing that tall and it will tell you to take a look at it’s deep root; the several seasons of drought, little water, penetrating hard rocks and other adverse conditions it had to endure before becoming that giant tree you now relax under.
Our focal scripture was from none other than one of my favourite bible characters, David. If any man understood training, it was this great king.
Permit me to share a gist with you that I once gave them in church. Assuming I mount the pulpit and shared this testimony, what will be your reaction?
Brethren, praise God with me. Two Saturdays ago at my place of work, a lion came and attacked us, I work at a ranch, where we rear goats, sheeps and cattle. On sighting the lion, we all ran and managed to escape with our lives. The lion took a sheep, just one and left.
