On the High Place-1

1 Kings 3:3 “And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.”
1 Kings 3:4 “And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that [was] the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.”
We’ve been discussing the concept of God’s high place and what it takes to get there but then what happens when you get there? The high place is a wonderful place, the air is pure and free from every pollution. The view is wonderful and distractions are almost non-existent, it is indeed a wonderful place.
However, God does not want us to be carried away with those fancies. I want you to understand that when you get there, you’ve still got a lot to do! One of our major tasks at the high place is what is called sacrifice!
Sacrificing on the high place is in two dimensions. The first one is giving to the Lord God who has brought you there. You offer this sacrifice by submitting yourself totally to His dictates. Offering yourself as a living sacrifice, doing and obeying Him totally. God expects this from us when we get there. We must never forget Him!
The second form of sacrifice is to give up something valuable or to deny ones self some comfort in order to help make another comfortable.
Beloved, once you get there, you’re saddled with the responsibility of getting others there as well! Paul said, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also [am] of Christ.” (1 Cor. 11:1). Don’t keep people down, let others follow your example to the top as well.
Be a people builder, God’s plan is such that when people meet us, they should meet Him. Don’t get there and frustrate others, make sacrifices for them to get there as well. Go out of your way to encourage others as well. Make the required sacrifice. Show them how your feet became hooves!
To be continued…
