Jesus gone missing-1
Luke 2:42 “And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.”
Luke 2:43 “And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.”
I was thinking of the topic to give this piece for quite some time before I finally came up with this. It sounded awkward even to me at first but after looking at it critically, I knew within my spirit that I have the right topic!
I have since discovered that in the life of many believers and Christians alike Jesus has gone missing! In actual fact let me ask you this question, “Where is Jesus in your life?”
If you’ll be honest, I’m sure you struggled to comprehend the question and probably struggled more to answer! That is typical of many believers! They got born again with great excitement but all of a sudden, they seem to misplace Jesus. So many activities preoccupy their time even in church that the main reason for going to church has been relegated to the background.
I use to blame Joseph and Mary for leaving a 12 year old boy behind and didn’t even notice it. How dare they leave the saviour of the world behind! What kind of careless parents were they! What were they thinking? That is a sign of irresponsibility! Bla bla bla…a
We can think up all manner of adjectives to qualify them but the truth is I have since realized that leaving Jesus behind is a very easy thing to do!!
You got a new job and suddenly God doesn’t seem to matter like before. We needed more time to attend to some new responsibilities and we start reducing from our quiet time. You hear Christians say stuff like, “I remember when I use to pray two hours a day, just that I don’t have that time again. That was before I gave birth!” Meanwhile…
To be continued…
