Ecclesiastes 1:9 “History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new.” (NLT)
David fought sixty six battles and lost none! You know why? He has simply learnt from history how not to lose a war!
Psalms 44:1 “We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old”
Psalms 44:2 “How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.”
Psalms 44:3 “For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.”
David dug into history and saw all God did for his fathers and how He did them. He then went ahead, repeated the process and got the same result!
Beloved, it doesn’t matter what the devil is throwing at you right now, what matters is how much of history as recorded in the word of God that you know! If you know enough you can easily enforce your victory over the devil and come out unscathed!
Jesus did same, that was why one of his favourite statements was, “It is written…” Matthew 4:4,6,7 also Matt.21:13, Mark 7:6, John 10:34 etc.
Luke 6:3 “And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;”
Jesus had read and knew how David handled hunger! Whatever is making you hungry has been handled before but you must know it and you must know how!
If you don’t know what is written, when history repeats itself, you can easily run into the error of the past.
