Strength in quietness-2

Isaiah 30:15 “For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength…”
…From yesterday…Hearing this, the children hurried inside the barn went through and around the entire stack of hay but still could not find the watch. Just when the farmer was about to give up looking for his watch, a little boy went up to him and asked to be given another chance. The farmer looked at him and thought, “Why not? After all, this kid looks sincere enough.”
So the farmer sent the little boy back in the barn. After a while the little boy came out with the watch in his hand! The farmer was both happy and surprised and so he asked the boy how he succeeded where the rest had failed.
The boy replied, “I did nothing but sit on the ground and listen. In the silence, I heard the ticking of the watch and just looked for it in that direction.”
Indeed, quietness is a virtue if mastered. You can never hear God if you don’t master this principle. The major challenge is keeping calm. Hear this:
Habakkuk 2:20 “But oh! GOD is in his holy Temple! Quiet everyone–a holy silence. Listen!” (MSG)
Let me equally show you something from the life of Prophet Elijah. A time came when God wanted speaking to him and something interesting happened:
1 Kings 19:11 “”Go out and stand before me on the mountain,” the Lord told him. And as Elijah stood there, the Lord passed by, and a mighty windstorm hit the mountain. It was such a terrible blast that the rocks were torn loose, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.”
1 Kings 19:12 “And after the earthquake there was a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the sound of a gentle whisper.” (To be continued)
