Luke 15:12 “The younger said to his father, ‘Father, I want right now what’s coming to me.’ “So the father divided the property between them.”
Luke 15:17 “That brought him to his senses. He said, ‘All those farmhands working for my father sit down to three meals a day, and here I am starving to death.”
Luke 15:18 “I’m going back to my father. I’ll say to him…” (MSG)
The prodigal son made a mind blowing request to his dad. He dared the man! The audacity with which he asked for half of his dad’s kingdom is just Wao!
I know what is likely going on in your mind and I’m laughing as I write this…you’re probably thinking that “stupid boy” that went and squandered his father’s riches, in fact how dare him ask for a portion of his wealth while the man was still alive!
Friend, I want you to put that your mediocre attitude aside and see the other side. Perhaps your situation have refused to change because of that attitude of yours! You’re thinking like his elder brother…I don’t mean to confuse your theology but there is another side to that coin. I want you to become proactive and make up your mind that your life and destiny must change in 2015!
Come to think of it, the Father we are talking about here is God the greatest giver not some rich earthly father. This Father has riches and wealth in abundance and only graciously gives it to sons who knows how to ask. Notice that his Father in the story didn’t query him for asking, he simply gave to him what he “demanded” for! I’m sorry to disappoint you but that is the Father I know, the God Almighty who owns “the cattle upon a thousand hills”(Psalm 50:10)! I challenge you to be bold and daring this year!
One other reason why the boy asked for his share of the Kingdom I want to believe is the fact that he knows his Father too well as…to be continued
