Bull by the horn-1
Luke 15:12 “The younger said to his father, ‘Father, I want right now what’s coming to me.’ “So the father divided the property between them.”
Luke 15:17 “That brought him to his senses. He said, ‘All those farmhands working for my father sit down to three meals a day, and here I am starving to death.”
Luke 15:18 “I’m going back to my father. I’ll say to him…” (MSG)
Taking the bull by the horn is a popular English idiom which means “to confront a problem head-on”, “to forcefully attack a difficult situation” or ” to deal with a problem or a challenge in a direct and fearless way.” Those are no weak words.
To take the bull by the horn in your situation is to seize the initiative. It means to pick up the required courage and attention required to effect a change!
Most people live their lives like the children of Israel. Those folks spent forty years in the desert repeating the same errors over and over again. As a matter of fact they didn’t spend forty years in the desert, they spent one year repeated forty times until they decided to learn the lesson and seize the initiative to effect a change.
I strongly believe that in 2015, it’s time for you to stand up for yourself and your dream. For something to change in your life, one of two things has to happen: either your life changes, or you do. But, waiting for life to change is a pretty passive solution. Becoming proactive by taking the bull by the horn is the key!
I love the story of the prodigal son so much because it is loaded with principles for living a better life. The prodigal son is one of the most proactive folks in the bible. He was tired of a mediocre life and he took the bull by the horn and twice changed his life!
He woke up one day and went to his father, asking for his own share of the kingdom! Just like in our series on “Make a wish”, he made an audacious wish! A mind blowing one at that. He dared his dad! (To be continued)
