Deuteronomy 30:19 “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” (NLT)
An interesting scripture we have here! God setting an exam and giving you the answer! What kind of a teacher does that? The one that loves you and will go all out to make sure you pass the exam! What an incredible tutor!
He is our Father who loves us too much! His ability has never been on trial nor in doubt. What has always been on trial is man’s ability to believe him. You can choose to do anything you like and God will always respect your choice.
In our focal scripture, two choices were given to man, but he was advised on the one to take. The ball was thrown into the court of man and the whole responsibility was in his hands.
Permit me to share again this beautiful story as told by Brian Tracy, it goes thus…Once upon a time there lived an old man on top of a hill. He was the wisest man around. He lives alone but his fame is known all over the world.
He was indeed wise and there is no question he doesn’t proffer an answer to. Men, women, rich, famous and poor all troop to the hilltop to seek for solution and they never get disappointed.
Beneath the hill lived four boys who have always thought of how to give the man a question he cannot answer. One day the eldest Adrian by name, called the others and broke the “good news”. “I have a tricky question he cannot answer”. “How?” they asked. He answered them and said, “Look at this bird in my hand, it’s alive”. “Tomorrow we will climb up the hill and ask the old man, if the bird is alive or dead. If he says it’s alive, I will squeeze it and kill it and tell him, he is wrong, the bird is dead. If he says the bird is dead, I’ll open my hands and the bird will fly away.” (To be continued)
