Lessons from Nature-2

Psalms 19:1 “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.”
Psalms 19:2 “Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known.”
Psalms 19:3 “They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard.”
Psalms 19:4 “Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world…” (NLT)
Some months back, we started a series called Lessons from Nature in which we considered the Palm tree. In Psalms 19:1-6, the bible described the works of God called nature. Even though they don’t seem to speak our language, there is so much to learn from them. The bible compared us to some of these fantastic works of nature and we cannot but take our time to learn from them. Hear this:
Proverbs 24:32 “…the fields preached me a sermon and I listened…”(MSG)
Let’s listen to some sermons from the field again.
In our Lesson this month, we are going to be considering yet another tree called the Olive tree. Here we go:
“But I am like a Green Olive Tree in the House of God…”(Psalms 52:8).
Why are we believers likened to a Green Olive Tree? A bible scholar, Dankenbring made a little research into the Hebrew word for “olive tree” and made some interesting discoveries. The “olive tree” literally mean “tree of oil” but from its primitive root, it means: to shine, beauty, richness, anointing, fat, fruitful, to be brilliant, illuminating oil, prominent and brightness. Wao! What a description of the believer.
The first thing of note about the olive as well as the believer is her unparalleled beauty. You are not just beautiful, you’re stunning. There is this popular saying, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. Very true, but I want you to know that it’s not man that is beholding you, it’s your Maker. He made you and after your “fabrication” he said Wao, He then took another look at you and said you’re very good (Gen.1:31)…(to be continued)
