Luke 4:42 “And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.”
Luke 4:43 “And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.”
Luke 4:44 “And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.”
It will be a tragedy of enormous proportion to have gone through 365 days and looked back only to realise you have spent much of your time, energy and money on things that were pointless or of very little importance while giving very little attention to the very important ones. It can be very depressing to realize that you had wasted your entire year on vain pursuits.
Let me show you this very interesting survey about life. A 1992 survey found that aside from sleeping and work, television was the number one thing most people spend their time on? Here is the estimate of how a typical life span of 70 years is spent:
Sleep………………23 years……….32.9%
Work……………..16 years………..22.8%
TV…………………..8 years………..11.4%
Eating……………….6 years………..8.6%
Travel……………….6 years………..8.6%
Leisure…………..4.5 years………..6.5%
Illness……………….4 years………..5.7%
Dressing……………2 years………..2.8%
Things of God….0.5 years………..0.7%
Total…………….70 years…………100%
The statistics might look a bit outrageous or even ridiculous at first glance but I have since discovered there are a lot of truth in it. The way most of us spend our typical day is an indication that the statisticians are not far from reality. If you decide to document the way you spend your typical day, if care is not taken it will align accurately with the above statistics.
The good news however is that beginning from now, you can rearrange your priorities in the appropriate order. I believe  this particular Lift series on Prioritization will help.
