Letting go of the weights-3
Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight…”
1 Peter 2:1 “Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings…”
Envy also makes you hate another, Titus 3:3 says, “For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish….living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.” The bible says envy is a foolish act, be wise!
In meditating on this piece, I discovered something appaling. All the afore mentioned “nuts” were in the church! Not outside. It is a shocking revelation that believers still habour such but the goodnews is, none of these need have power over us again, if and only if we let them go. We don’t need to hold unto them, the devil, the “real monkey-hunter” is stil out there. We can deprive him of the power to keep us down by dropping his “nuts”.
Friend, those nuts are subtle and attractive. We sometimes get lured into their traps without even knowing, that’s why the bible says in 1 Cor.10:12, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” (KJV) or “Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence.” (MSG)
Let go of all those nuts, no matter how tempted you might be. Keep walking in the freedom you have been giving, because, “…if the Son sets you free, you are free through and through.”John 8:36 (MSG). Maintain your freedom by letting go of those ugly nuts and continue on the path to fulfilling purpose.
Another reason, why we have to let go of these nuts is what our text says, Hebrews 12:1, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses…” Beloved, we are the Bible some people will ever read, let’s make our lives worth reading as living Bibles, Selah!
