Stand your ground-3
Ephesians 4:27 “Neither give place to the devil.”
The issue is this, the “exercise” might continue till you finally swim to safety. Meaning the shark might leave you for some time, swim away and come back again.
Does that sound familiar? The devil came towards Christ after he fasted for forty days and night. He started circling Christ’s position as Naval Admiral William H. McRaven puts it, “…hungry for a midnight snack…” isn’t that what the bible says?
1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour…”(KJV)
1 Peter 5:8 “Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping.”
1 Peter 5:9 “Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith.” (MSG)
The devil is always looking for whom to devour, whose space to takeover and will always dart towards you, he does it to everyone of us from time to time, but the question is will you give up your space? How did Christ handle him?
Christ like the naval seal summon up his strength and “punched him in the snout”. The word of God is your tool for punching the enemy. Didn’t you read that God’s word is like hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?”
Friend, you can’t blow no devil without the WORD! The volume of the word in you is what determines how much of your place you’ll occupy and subdue.
Eph. 6:17 “…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God”
The word of God is an offensive weapon, learning how to skillfully use it is of paramount importance in the Christian journey. You cannot stand your ground without the word! (To be continued)
