Discern the Dare-2
Discern the Dare-2
Matthew 4:5 “For the second test the Devil took him to the Holy City. He sat him on top of the Temple and said,”
Matthew 4:6 “Since you are God’s Son, jump.” The Devil goaded him by quoting Psalm 91: “He has placed you in the care of angels. They will catch you so that you won’t so much as stub your toe on a stone.” (MSG)
How do I know which dare to take? You can easily know the dares to take by discerning. You discern by simply comparing the dares to the Word. Notice carefully how Christ handled the devil. Christ beat the devil at his own game by giving him back the word in the correct form.
Matthew 4:4 “Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.” (MSG)
Matthew 4:10 “Jesus’ refusal was curt: “Beat it, Satan!” He backed his rebuke with a third quotation from Deuteronomy: “Worship the Lord your God, and only him. Serve him with absolute single-heartedness.” (MSG)
Jesus, always compared every dare with the word. Before taking up the dare, compare it to the word, That others did it the devils way and got results doesn’t mean you must do same. You have a working manual that must be followed strictly. Don’t dare take up the dare without consulting your manual.
Men say put your hand into sin so that we can help you, our manual says, our help comes from the Lord (Psalms 121:2) not from the man! They say you need long leg to get the job, the contract, the promotion etc. Hear this:
Psalms 147:10 “He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.”
It is not long leg, it is God’s favour! Get to know God more via his word and you’ll always know the right dare. This week, God will come through for you, Amen!
