Discern the Dare-1
Matthew 4:5 “For the second test the Devil took him to the Holy City. He sat him on top of the Temple and said,”
Matthew 4:6 “Since you are God’s Son, jump.” The Devil goaded him by quoting Psalm 91: “He has placed you in the care of angels. They will catch you so that you won’t so much as stub your toe on a stone.”  (MSG)
As we bring our study on dare to a close, I must warn that you should be careful because there can be foolish dares. For example, in our text today the devil dared Christ three times. Firstly, he asked him to turn stone to bread as proof that he is the son of God. Secondly, he asked Christ to jump down from a very high place and even backed it up with scriptures!
Friend, the devil is still at it. He will dare you to do what other ladies do to get the required grade. He will dare you to bring the bribe just like everybody else. He will dare you to join that cult to get the promotion. In fact he’ll even tell you, you are chicken hearted if you can’t do it. He’ll tell you heaven help those who help themselves. I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.
Beloved, the watch word here is Discern! For God sake you are the son of God, your father owns the universe, you don’t need to do the stupid dare to prove it to anybody. Your father will make your own things beautiful in his time. That you’re having a wilderness experience now just like Christ, does not mean you have to bow to the devil to be glorified!
Sometimes dares could be subtle, people will dare you into a fight. Provoking you without cause. You don’t need to accept every supposed fight. Don’t waste your strength on frivolities. Discern!!
