Take up the dare
Take up the dare
1 Samuel 17:32 “Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!”
1 Samuel 17:33 “Don’t be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win!..”(NLT)
…from yesterday…In an attempt to discourage him from taking up the dare, Saul threw another dare at him. Saul told him point blank, “you can’t fight this guy and if you do you can’t win.” But, I love David’s response, 1Sam.17:34-36, permit me to paraphrase, he said, “ Sometimes ago, I was watching my father’s sheep, a lion showed up and dared me, so also a bear, I took up the dare, confronted them, smote and slew them. That’s what I do to challenges and I’m ready to take up Goliath’s dare and handle him like the lion and the bear!” Wao!
Friend, issues of life will always dare you. The devil will dare you in the area of your health, finances and progress in life. He will even attempt to steal things that you hold dear, just like the lion and the bear attempted to steal David’s precious lambs. Don’t accept it! Let courage rise in you, banish timidity.
Let the devil know that as regards your finances, Christ already paid the prize (2Cor. 8:9). As regards your health you’re not just healed, you’ve been made a healer! Look him straight in the eyes and tell him that your case is different. Let him know that you go after “lions and bears” and smite them. Beloved, think back and remember any dare the Lord has helped you to overcome in the past and let it be a springboard for the next miracle.
It is time to take up those intimidating problems that are steering you in the face as a dare. It does not matter what they dared you to do, that looks scary, go ahead and do it anyway. In the doing lies the victory. What would you rather do? Take up the challenge or become an object of ridicule? Decide…
