Law of Improvement – 2
Law of Improvement (2)
Proverbs 4:18 “But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in the perfect day [to be prepared].” (AMP)
A pastor and theologian I respect so much was John Wesley, he said, “Once in seven years I burn all my sermons; for it is a shame if I cannot write better sermons now than I did seven years ago.” Wesley kept improving all through his life time, he believed in preaching a better sermon each time he stood to minister. I love such a man. He kept adding to himself and making improvement till he died.
Warren Bennis and Bert Nanus said, ” It is the capacity to develop and improve their skills that distinguishes leaders from followers.” This is the secret of great leaders. They continually improve themselves gradually leaving their pairs behind.
A pastor of mine once told me that while working in a particular company, he was in an office with about 7 others. Three were far his seniors while the other four were his mates in grade. He said they had very little to do in the office at the time and they mostly sit down, gist and read newspapers. He said he was not comfortable with this and decided to change. He searched online for a course abroad in a new field and applied for it. His immediately boss didn’t buy the idea and refused to approve his study-leave. So he decided to self-sponsor himself for the course, just to improve himself.
He went for the course, which lasted 2years. He said those 2 years were hell for his family because it was financially demanding. He however finished top of his class. He returned and met the seven other guys at the same level with the same qualifications, chating each morning and reading newspapers. Seven months after his return, the company had a change in management..(to be continued)
